Catherine (Kate) married John Pieter Clegennet van Lelyveld (known as ‘Mannie’ according to Dot Serfontein).

Kate is in the Concentration Camp at Klerksdorp with her two small daughters from 6 April 1901 to 4 December 1902 according to the database available at the University of Cape Town Library:

She is described as ‘from Witpoort farm’ and as the mother of Sarah van Lelyveld (age 3 at arrival) and Irene van Lelyveld (age 9 months at arrival). Irene dies on 25 November 1901.

In this copy of a page from a Van Lelyveld family genealogy, there is information about the circumstances of the death of Kate’s husband in a farm accident. Her date of birth is also given as 5 August 1875 which is at odds with the date given on her marriage certificate, 5 August 1874 (see above).

On 14 April 1937 in Johannesburg, Kate remarries. Her husband is George Ignatius Andersen, a plumber, age 53. Kate’s age is given as 52 on this Marriage Certificate.

The following information is from Toy, descendant of Catherine Elizabeth de Raedt:

Granny Kate moved to Heilbron, in the Orange Free State and took care of Jana’s dad, Mr Ferreira.
Thereafter she moved to the farm, Zoar, where her daughter Gracie and son-in-law,  Bunny Rautenbach lived. The farm is situated just outside of Heilbron on the Sasolburg road.She passed away on the farm on 16 March 1964 at the age of 89 years.
